Higher National Technical Science Research Institute (NTSRI)
A unique institute, having no analogues abroad until this day, has been created in Leningrad in 1947. It was named NTSRI: Higher National Technical Science Research Institute under the Defense Industry Ministry. Today the institute is an open joint stock company involved in the development of new technologies and equipment for the production of highly complex machine-building parts that are difficult or impossible to produce with the use of standard equipment.
All major types of engineers and technicians are working here: mechanics, welders, assemblers, electricians, metal-workers, special tool workers. The presence of a large reserve of high technology, created during the institute's 50-year-long history, enables it to output world-standard quality products.
600 employees are currently working in the institute.
The institute is involved in providing solutions to the country's most important problems. It produces bar pumps for the oil industry that are considered among Russia's best.
NTSRI has developed a technique of cold-temperature metal shaping without the use of mechanical processing for machine parts such as shafts and axes. Fencing weapons (swords, foils and rapiers) produced by NTSRI are currently considered best in the world.
NTSRI has created a unit for the production of synthetic carbon fiber sorbents (CFS) that can be used for the purification of liquids such as water, vegetable oil and blood. Products made of this sorbent have appropriate certificates. A license to make sterile medical application bandages out of CFS has been given to NTSRI by the Russian Health Ministry's Committee on New Medical Technology.
NTSRI has developed elevating devices for handicapped persons that can be installed in buses and passenger trains.
The institute has developed pneumatic machines for string drilling of granite materials. Until then, such equipment has always been bought in Italy.
NTSRI's unique automated machines for high-speed electrothermic processing of machine parts are successfully operating at a large number of factories.
NTSRI is a scientific research organization officially accredited by Russia's Ministry of Science and Technology.
Dmitry Leonidovich Zuber is the present-day General Director of the National Technical Science Research Institute.
