The Research and Design Institute Atomenergoproject
The St. Petersburg Research and Design Institute Atomenergoproject, headed by Korkunov Vladislav Nikolaevich, has been dealing with designing of heat power plants since 1929 and nuclear power plants since 1951. During these years more than 90 power stations of the total capacity about 30 million kW were launched in the USSR, including 78 power stations of the total capacity more than 26 million kW in Russia, which is 15 % of the total installed capacity of Russia's heat and nuclear stations.
After the institute's projects 25 power stations of the total capacity more than 10 million kW were built in Poland, Vietnam, Egypt, China, Algeria, Croatia, Irak, Slovakia, Czechia, Finland, Cuba.
Having started with designing power units of 3000 kW capacity at heat power stations and 5000 kW at nuclear power stations, nowadays the institute has operating power plants with units of 150, 200, 300 and 500 thou. kW and nuclear power plant s with units of 440, 600 and 1000 thou. kW.
They are situated in different regions of the former USSR.
The main criteria of designing are:
- meeting Russian and foreign safety requirements;
- economy;
- competitiveness.
