The Federal State Unitary Enterprise North Design Bureau
The North Design Bureau - a leading Russian company in surface ships designing - was established in 1946.
During more than 55 years of its history the bureau has accumulated a highly qualified personnel of shipbuilding designers, who solves the most difficult problems of ship designing. More than a hundred ships of different purposes have been designed: from a patrol boat of 500 t to a heavy nuclear cruiser with the displacement of 25 000 t, from a bulker to a whale catcher. In the whole, more than 560 ships have been built after the bureau's projects with the total displacement of 1 million tons. All of them distinguish themselves by high nautical qualities, reliability, effectiveness in operation. Some vessels were exported.
For the last 15 years the North Design Bureau has developed projects of refrigerator vessels, trawlers, passenger ships (including those with a small area of the waterline), environment protection vessels with a system of water and atmosphere ecological monitoring, ships for collection and complex treatment of oil-containing sewerage and solid wastes, a hospital-sanatorium vessel. The North Design Bureau actively participates in realization of the "Russian Fleet Revival" program. More than 20 pilot projects have been developed and presented for approval.
Ships are designed at the highest up-to-date level, with the help of modern computer technologies.
The North Design Bureau has a lot of connections with shipyards and equipment suppliers, both in Russia and abroad. Warships built after the Bureau's projects belong to navies of Finland, Poland, Bulgaria, Egypt, India, Vietnam, China, Indonesia.
Nowadays the Bureau is confident in its future. It is always open for a cooperation to the mutual benefit.
