JSC "Spetsstroy"
JSC "Spetsstroy" is St. Petersburg's and Leningrad region's largest provider of complex practical solutions in the area of construction of transportation pathways, with over forty years of experience in this area. The enterprise's yearly production volume is $10 million. It employs 600 workers.
JSC "Spetsstroy"'s clients include: ARGE Magdeburg (Germany), Uponor (Finland), MABO (Norway), JSC S-3 Heating Energy Station (St. Petersburg), Tekser (Turkey), Center for Work with Bank Credits (St. Petersburg), Tekhnopromeksport (Moscow), Agrotechnip (France), Polymatka (Finland), St. Petersburg Administration's Department of Transportation Construction, Quattrogemini (Finland), Shell (Great Britain), Philipp Morris (U.S.A.), Lemminkainen (Finland), JSC "Monolitstroy" (St. Petersburg), Neste (Finland), FISP (St. Petersburg), Fintrako (Turkey), St. Petersburg Administration's Committee on Construction, JSC "Koksokhimmontage Complex" (St. Petersburg), JSC "Ice Sports Palace" (St. Petersburg), Soyak (Turkey), Vodokanal St. Petersburg, ARGE Philipp Holtzman/OR Groupe (Germany), and many others.
"Spetsstroy" was one of the first enterprises in St. Petersburg to incorporate in its work the Finnish technology of sewage network renovation known as Flexoren, building 1.5 km of high-strength polyethylene sewage pipelines in Novgorod region and over 10 km of such pipelines in St. Petersburg. This method allows placing sewage pipelines underneath automobile routes and railroads without opening up the route structure and stopping the traffic. This means that factories and production enterprises that are involved in providing everyday life necessities to the population continue working in their normal regime.
JSC "Spetsstroy", which has previously had no experience in restoration of roads after the casting of engineering networks, mastered this contruction method as well, proving that in today's conditions of widespread unemployment it is still possible for an enterprise to preserve its staff of workers by retraining them in other specializations. At the same time, JSC "Spetsstroy"'s average payrate has not decreased. It remained considerably higher than the average rate for St. Petersburg. In 1996 a 40-apartment building for "Spetsstroy" employees with urgent housing problems has been built and these people soon moved into their new apartments.
JSC "Spetsstroy" participated in many tenders and won most of them. A part of these orders has already been realized, including 26-km-long networks for the town of Nakhabino, internal and external networks for the North-Western Heating Energy Station (over 18 km), circulating water communication pathways for the Station's platform (over 2 km). Several contracts with foreign firms have also been made, including networks and roads for the Coca-Cola factory in St. Petersburg (Agrotechnip), 23-km-long networks for Pulkovo-3, works for Assi-Domon carton factory in Vsevolozhsk (Leningrad region, 3.5 km), reconstruction of the city center (Quarter 130, 2.4 km), and networks for St. Petersburg's Ice Sports Palace (2 km).
One JSC "Spetsstroy"'s major successes was the fact that it won the tender to rebuild the infrastructure of Kamenka and Kolomyagi districts, which allowed "Spetsstroy" branches to significantly improve their financial situation.
Under the direction of V.G. Bam, "Spetsstroy" workers were able to create more than 500 km of water pipelines over the past five years, and more than 600 km of sewage lines. These figures include the recontruction of Volodarsky and Bolsheokhtinsky bridges in St. Petersburg (over 15 km of water and sewage pipelines), the creation of aqueduct and sewage systems in Mamulino district in Tver (over 16 km), the aqueduct in Yuzhny housing district in Vsevolozhsk (over 9 km, plus the restoration of 7,300 sq. m of roads), aqueduct and sewage systems in new and reconstructed housing districts in St. Petersburg and its suburbs, such as Pushkin, Lomonosov and Petrodvorets (over 232 km, with the reconstruction of roads and sidewalks).
JSC "Spetsstroy" carries out:
- Casting of aqueduct, sewage and heating pipelines on the territories of enterprises, in city and country settings, on both small and large depths, with the use of concrete, steel, cast iron, asbestos cement, ceramic and polymer pipes with a diameter of 50 to 2,500 mm, Russian-made or imported;
- Trenchless casting of networks by the punch-through method, reconstruction of networks with the use of a pneumatic punching device made by the German TRACTO-TECHNIK firm;
- Restoration of existing pipelines by Flexoren and "pipe-in-pipe" methods;
- Creation of drainage ditch systems at construction grounds and other sites;
- Metallic fortification of trenches and pits during undersurface construction;
- Deep lowering of water levels to reduce underground water pressure and dry out trenches and pits;
- Electrochemical protection of undersurface metallic structures;
- Restoration of road covering structures.
