Grudzinskii Mikhail Alexandrovich
Director of the Television Research Institute, Doctor of Technical Sciences, professor. Born on January 1, 1938 in Leningrad. After graduating from high school in 1955, M. A. Grudzinskii was accepted to Leningrad Electrotechnical Institute. In 1961, after his graduation, he works at Leningrad Optical Institute. In 1968 he enters the Television Research Institute, where he becomes the head of a department at first, and then the director in 1983. In 1989 he defends his doctorate thesis and receives the title of Doctor of Technical Sciences in 1989, and in 1996 the degree of professorship. In 1994 M. A. Grudzinskii was accepted to St. Petersburg Academy of Engineering. Presently he is the leading scientist in the field of television information processing, as well as that of development of detection and observation infrared systems under conditions of interference. In 1994-1997 he participated in the introduction of new methods of the compression of digital flows, which retained high quality of television information. He also guided the development of multifunctional digital TV equipment, which provides the service of broadcasting complexes in the system of communication networks. M. A. Grudzinskii is actively involved in the development of underwater television technology, and the technology for space observation. He had published over 85 articles on various topics of his research. He is the chairman of the dissertation committee at the Television Research Institute, combining it with his position as a lecturer at the department of Television and Video Technology. He is also the head of attestation commission at St. Petersburg Electrotechnical Institute. During his scientific carrier he has prepared many generations of prolific scientists and researchers in the area of television engineering. For his contributions to Russian science he was awarded the State Prize of the Russian Federation, as well as many honorable State titles.
