Aleksandrov, Alexander Danilovich

Russian Academy of Science.
Born August 4 (July 22), 1922 in the Volyn village, Ryazan province.
Graduated from the Physical Faculty of Leningrad State University. From 1933 to 1964 worked at the Leningrad State University as an assistant, a professor, the Chancellor. From 1964 10 1989 worked at the Novosibirsk Institute of Mathematics of the Siberian Separation of the Russian Academy of Science. Since 1989 has been working at the USSR Academy of Science.
Works on the Geometry of convex surfaces. Has created a general Theory on irregular surfaces.
Doctor of Physics and Mathematics.
Professor.
Member of the St.Petersburg Science Centre of the Russian Academy of Science.
Winner of the USSR State Prize (1942), International Lobachevsky Prize (1951).
Awarded the Lenin Order, two Red Banner Orders of Labour.
Member of the Communist Party from 1951 to 1991.
Was the Deputy of the Supreme Council of the Russian Federation of the Fifth Convocation.
