Born on November 25, 1961in Leningrad. Graduated from the Leningrad Institute of the Aviation
Device Construction in 1984 with a major in radiotechnics. Prior to graduation became a freelance komsomol worker. Was elected secretary of Oktyabrsky District Committee of Komsomol. From February 1990 until November 1991 was the secretary of the Leningrad Oblast Committee
of Komsomol, later - secretary of the St.-Petersburg Federation of Youth Organizations
Oblast Committee. Worked as the board of directors' chairman at the joint enterprise"Novaya Gazeta" (1992-1994 ), and as the acting general manager, general specialist, project director at JSC "Komsomolskaya Pravda-St.-Petersburg" (1994-1997). In October 1997 was appointed Chairman of the St.-Petersburg Administration's Press and Public Relations Committee. He is the executive director of the St.-Petersburg Press-Club from the moment of its foundation (1992), the co-founder of the Supporting Fund for Creative Activity "The Golden Pen" and the director of the Organizing Committee, which awards journalists' achievements "The Golden Pen". Since October 1998 he is the chairman of theBoard of Directors at the "Petersburg" TV and radio channel.
