Slonimsky, Sergey Mikhailovich
Composer, musicologist, pianist.
Born August 12, 1932 in Leningrad into the family of the writer Slonimsky M.L.
Graduated in Composition and piano from the Leningrad Rimsky-Korsakov State
Conservatory.
Composed such operas as "Virineya", "The Master and Margarita", "Mary Stuart", "Hamlet",
Ivan the Terrible", 10 symphonies, 24 preludes and fugues for piano, symphonic, chamber
and choral compositions, romances, music to films "Intervention", "The Republic ShKID".
Founder and presenter the Musical Conventions of the St.-Petersburg Fund of Culture.
Professor. Since 1959 has been teaching at the Conservatory.
Member of the Composers Union.
Academician of the Russian Academy of Education.
National Actor of Russia.
Winner of the Russian Glinka State Prize.
Winner of the St.Petersburg Government Prize.
Married with two children.
