Pianist, composer, conductor, actor, director, TV and radio presenter, disappointed saxophonist - all these characterize Sergey Kurekhin. His solo piano playing and his multygenre project "Popular mechanics" are famous all over the world.
Born in 1954 in Murmansk.
He began to play piano at the age of four. Studied at the Musical Colledge of the Conservatory, then in the Leningrad Institute of Culture. At the age of ten he organized his first rock group. In the end of 70-s Kurekhin played jazz in Analoly Vapirov's bands. In 1980 he organized his own orchestra "Popular mechanics", which included musicions and artists of different genres.
"Popular mechanics" made consert tours in Russia, Easten and Westen Europe, Japan.
Kurekhin also composed music for films and theatre plays. Since 1991 Sergey began to act in films.
BBC made several documentaries about Kurekhin's creative work. A number of his albums were released by "Leo Records" company.
Died in 1996.
