Born February 25, 1941in Leningrad.
Graduated from the Pavlov First Medical Institute.
Worked as a psychiatrist.
In 1973 began publishing in the "Neva" magazine.
Author of more than 25 novels and stories and of several hundreds of publications. In 1992
was elected Chairman of the St.-Petersburg Writers Union.
In 1997 was appointed the Chairman of the Human Rights Commission of St.-Petersburg
Government.
