ÎÀÎ Leningrad Polygraphic Machines ("LenPolygraphMach")

   FROM THE FACTORY'S HISTORY:
Our factory's biography begins as early as the 19th century. The factory, founded in 1890 by the technical engineer Ivan Aleksandrovich Semenov, made precise technology products, such as cigarette-making and tobacco-packing machines and automatic balances.
At the 1900 World Fair in Paris I.A. Semenov's cigarette-making machine has been awarded the Grand Prize.
In 1930 the U.S.S.R. National Economic Council has decided to organize the production of polygraphic machines at the factory. After two years the first Soviet N-1 linotype has been assembled, and after another year its serial production began.
By 1935 the production of linotype matrices, mini rotational machines, self-imposers for printing aggregates, knife-grooving and sewing machines for the country's printing houses has been fully established.
When World War II began, civil production at the factory stopped. In the difficult conditions of the city's blockade the factory produced mines, missile detonating fuses, mortars and "Maxim" machine-guns. For successful accomplishment of tasks given by the State Defense Committee it became the only Leningrad factory to be awarded the Patriotic War Order of the first degree.
The era of electronic type-setting began at the factory in 1954. The first sample of the NFS machine was created. At that time "LenPolygraphMach" has been charged with the production of all of the country's type-setting equipment. The factory's projects became laureates of many prestigious international exhibitions. Its products were exported to 56 countries of the world.
Since 1975 the factory has developed new photo type-setting 2NFA machines, "Cascade" and "Quantum" complexes, it has put into use POL-35 offset machines and other modern equipment. A large number of the factory's workers became laureates of high state awards for the development and introduction of advanced polygraphics and device-building equipment.

   THE FACTORY'S PRESENT:
Today the core of a departmental or district printing house may be built out of machines made by "LenPolygraphMach". The complex of devices designed to equip small and medium-size polygraphic enterprises includes type-setting and make-up devices, image-processing devices, equipment for making offset print or photo polymer forms, equipment for film montage, for cutting rolls of paper into sheets, and an offset sheet printing machine. Besides this, during the last few years the factory began to produce desktop office technology, such as laminators, paper cutters, gilding presses, grooving and folding devices and other products.
Developers are continually perfecting the technical characteristics of the factory's equipment. The production of FLP370 laser output machine with a 2,540 dpi resolution has been introduced. The machine uses laser optic blocks made by the American ECRM firm through an OEM contract.
A mini sausage factory (consisting of a meat-chopper, a minced meat mixer, cold and hot smoking ovens and other equipment) has been developed and put into serial production. Meat-choppers for restaurants, cafes, dining facilities and farms capable of processing 250 to 300 kg per hour and ribbon meat-cutting saws are also produced by the factory.
Meat-coppers and mini sausage factories produced by us are widely used at enterprises and farms in various regions of Russia. Such household goods as umbrellas and plastic kitchenware, made by "LenPolygraphMach", are also widely known.
Possessing a large number of precision metal-processing units made by the world's leading producers, as well as modern thermoplast machines, "LenPolygraphMach" solves complex design and manufacturing problems, making various-purpose devices and mechanisms.
OAO "LenPolygraphMach" also possesses a unique new galvanic complex, corresponding to modern European standards. The factory does not discard a single litre of its industrial waste into the city's water arteries. Various kinds of protective and decorative surfacings of different colours are offered to customers. The selection is very large. The quality of galvanic surfacing is guaranteed by superb equipment and materials. Moderate prices and fast high-quality execution of orders allow many enterprises to take advantage of the factory's new galvanic services.
OAO "LenPolygraphMach" carries out the orders of other enterprises for galvanic surfacing, metal processing, for the production of printing planes and plastic goods, for the development of constructor's documentation for non-standard equipment, for the realization of inventions and rationalization projects and for polygraphic services.
OAO "LenPolygraphMach" is ready to cooperate with other enterprises in the production and distribution of equipment, as well as in its galvanic surfacing services. We can solve your problems.
Although the conditions for industrial development were quite difficult, the factory has preserved its social benefits, including a recreation base, a youth camp, etc. Veteran workers and pensioners are surrounded by the factory's care. The factory sponsors "Classics" State Symphonic Orchestra, "Little Stars" children's festival, I. Gorbachev's theatre studio, the Albrecht Institute for handicapped children, City Hospital #29 and the Smolny Cathedral.
OAO "LenPolygraphMach" has survived a difficult period in the second half of the 1990's, lost some of its workers, including highly-qualified personnel, but preserved its ever-young spirit, brought by previous generations of workers. New products are being introduced, workers are hired, production is expanded, and all this is largely due to the efforts of Aleksander Mikhailovich Soloveichik.
