Historic Reference
Svetoch is the oldest enterprise in the field founded in 1871 by Otto Kirchner, a German citizen. Originally it was located in Malaya Morskaya (Small Naval) street in the very city center. It produced office and address folders, office boxes, note pads, sketch-books for poems. The enterprise used the most modern at that time equipment and constantly increased its output volumes. In 1895, the company Otto Kirchner, Office Books Company moves to a new, specially constructed production site in Petrogradskaya Side. The site became the basis of the modern factory. The production increased and in 1917 the factory occupied 11 buildings some of which became historical and architectural monuments. After the October revolution of 1917, the factory was nationalized and renamed into the State Factory of Office Books SVETOCH. According to the report on factory nationalization, "Factory Kirchner with its novel equipment is the only one in Russia." It was SVETOCH that in 1918 produced first calendars with the new time style (additional 13 days to keep up with the world). In 1992 it produced the first Russian business organizer. Currently, the factory is one of the largest producer of paper production in Russia. Every year the enterprise fulfills the orders of President Administration, the Central Bank, State Duma, St. Petersburg and Moscow Governments, export orders from all European countries. Its production is awarded with special diplomas of the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations of the Russian Federation, the Chamber of Commerce, and the medal of Russian Entrepreneur trade exhibition. At the Turn of the 21st Century

SVETOCH constantly improves its production base and increases the list of production. Every year its production is renewed: the factory improves design and quality. The existing equipment allows to fulfill a full production complex: design, European quality printing, and the full range of post-production operations - folding, perforation, alphabet cutting, all kinds of binding, caches, packing and other types of works. The factory operates a six colour printing machine Heidelberg SM74 produced in Germany. The machine consists of 6 colour and one polishing sectors. It has no analogs in the region and allows to make 200 pci prints with full and partial polishing. SVETOCH produces over 200 products for schools, office and general use:
- school exercise books, sketch-books, daybooks, note-pads, colour paper, carton;
- business organizers, all types of calendars, folders, business card holders, note-pads, quarter and every day wall calendars, telephone directories, address books, copy paper;
- photo and stamp albums, writing paper;

The factory also fulfils individual orders for company style productions with company trade marks, leather bind, polygraph.
The main customers of the factory are wholesale trade organizations, supermarkets, shops, corporate clients (enterprises and organizations), publishing houses and advertising companies in Russian and the NIS countries. High quality of products, its broad range, modern design, lower prices compared to imported products allowed SVETOCH to become the leader of paper products in St. Petersburg and the north-western Russia. However, its production potential is used insufficiently.
